A proof-of-concept that helps blind and low-vision passengers learn and follow routes inside a station — short instructions, speech, distinct vibration patterns and waypoint codes.
Live Journey
Follow the route in the station waypoint by waypoint. Instructions stay short enough for a refreshable Braille display.
Live waypoint scan
Point the camera at a BraillePath waypoint code. Each detected code is confirmed aloud with a vibration.
Print these codes and place them at the waypoints to test the live camera scan.
Vibration patterns
- Go forward — one long pulse
- Turn left — two short pulses
- Turn right — three short pulses
- Warning / stop — two long pulses
- Arrival — two short pulses then one long pulse
Vibration works on supported mobile devices. Every pattern is also shown as dots and bars and announced in words — no information depends on vibration or colour alone.
